Educational Objective
European law influences almost all areas of national legal systems. Excellent knowledge of European law, its methodology as well as its influence on the law of the member states is therefore required in all legal professions.
Building on the knowledge acquired in the main lecture, participants in the core area courses learn the methodology and general legal principles of European law, deepen their knowledge of primary law as the "constitutional law" of the EU, deal in depth with the concept of the internal market, and illustrate the dynamics of European integration.
In the elective area, the variety of courses offered allows for expansion and specialization in areas of Union law.
Requirement and Registration
Prerequisite for obtaining an elective basket from the subject European Law is the successful completion of courses from the core area amounting to 6 semester hours (9 ECTS) as well as courses from the elective area amounting to 6 hours (9 ECTS). Thus, a total of 12 semester hours must be completed.
Registration is separate for each of the courses in the elective area. The registration process depends on the particular course you wish to take. After successful completion of the 12 semester hours, the completed elective pass with a collective certificate must be submited to Prof. Lengauer at the Institute for European Law.
