Seminar (SE) Recent Developments in EU-Law (basic 4 ECTS)
This seminar deals with recent developments in European Union law. Students will have to research and present their finding either related to a specific landmark judgement related to a principle of EU-law, or (alternatively) to a current topic. All research topics will be provided in the kick-off class. Interdisciplinary perspectives are more than welcome.
Course (KU) EU Energy Law and Policy: EU-Energy Markets, Geopolitical Challenges and Climate Change (4 ECTS)
The course EU energy law and policy deals with fundamental questions of European and international Energy Law and Policy currently under discussion. Special emphasis shall be placed on climate change related questions, renewable energy sources, the external dimension of the Union's energy supply, the regulation of renewable energy sources and legal questions surrounding energy markets in the EU. In the wrap-up discussion perspectives and legal policy issues shall be raised and discussed.
Course (KU) EU Constitutional Law – Common Principles and Structures (4 ECTS)
This course deals with structural features and principles of EU constitutional law.
The methodology to approach discussion will revolve around comparative analysis of constitutional law of the EU, taking into account the influence of MS' constitutional order on the EU.
Students are encouraged to actively contribute to the constitutional systems of their member states. Historical considerations and comparative analysis of the constitutional law of selected Member States and their influence on EU constitutional law are then analysed and placed in context. Current challenges for the European Union will be analysed and discussed on the basis of the principles of European constitutional law.
Exercises (UE) in European Law - How to solve a case and systemic features (4 ECTS)
This course is geared towards exam preparation at this faculty. This course shall enable students to solve a cae in EU-law, and furthermore, deal with future development in the following fields: principles of EU-law, the law of the Common Market and EU procedural law.
